Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced Thursday that the company has built a $6.7 billion electric car, and it’s not just the electric-car itself that is the big news.
The company also announced a new $100 million program for artists to create paintings of the car.
In addition to the electric car announcement, Tesla has also announced that it has signed a $5 billion deal with the University of California, Berkeley, to buy the company’s art collections, the company said.
Musk said at the event that the Tesla Art Center would be located in the UC Berkeley campus, and that it would feature more than 10,000 paintings of electric vehicles and cars.
The museum will also feature exhibitions on the history of the electric vehicle, the history and evolution of the art of the automobile, and the art and design of cars.
The artworks, which range from the 1950s to the mid-1980s, will also be on display in a museum in the city of Oakland.
